Health sector workers reported that at least 75 people have died and more than 120 others have been infected following a cholera outbreak in the Fuja Administrative Area in West Kordofan.
They explained that the disease has spread from Fuja to other areas, including Al-Kabara, Al-Gussa, and Al-Rageeg, with new cases also emerging in the Al-Firdous area التابعة to Lagawa locality in West Kordofan.
Volunteers confirmed that healthcare facilities in the area have become unable to accommodate the growing number of patients.
They pointed out that each patient requires large quantities of intravenous fluids amid severe shortages of medical supplies.
Meanwhile, the Emergency Rooms in West Kordofan expressed deep concern over the rapid spread of the cholera epidemic in Fuja Administrative Area in Al-Nuhud locality, warning that the outbreak has witnessed a dangerous escalation in recent days amid extremely complex humanitarian and health conditions.
