The Khartoum locality announced the completion of the exhumation and transfer of 200 remains that had been buried out of necessity in a field in the Al-Maigoma area of Al-Diyoum Al-Sharqiya, as part of efforts coordinated with the forensic medicine administration.
The committee explained that its work, which began in December 2025, has so far resulted in the transfer of 631 graves out of 2,023 emergency graves identified within neighborhoods, markets, and public facilities. In addition, around 10,000 graves were relocated by forensic authorities from east of Africa University to final burial sites.
The committee confirmed that all exhumation and transfer operations were carried out in accordance with the required legal procedures, including the filing of official reports and notifying the families of the deceased.
It also noted that work will resume after the Eid al-Adha holiday to complete the targeted areas before the rainy season begins.
