Jaafar Hassan, the official spokesperson for the Civil Democratic Alliance of Revolutionary Forces (Somoud), stated that the alliance’s participation in the meetings announced by the Quintet Mechanism, scheduled to take place in Addis Ababa on June 3, remains conditional upon full adherence to the agreements previously reached among the three parties participating in the political process.
He explained that these parties include the anti-war forces, including the Somoud Alliance, the forces supporting Port Sudan, and the forces supporting Nyala.
Hassan added:
«”We affirm that any amendment to, or violation of, the understandings previously agreed upon could lead the Somoud Alliance to boycott these meetings and refrain from participating.”»
He stressed that the alliance believes the credibility and seriousness of any political process depend on respecting agreements and strictly adhering to commitments made among the concerned parties.
Hassan further stated that the success of these efforts requires maintaining the previously agreed framework as the necessary foundation for building trust and creating a conducive environment for a serious political dialogue that can lead to ending the war and achieving peace and stability in Sudan.
