U.S. Secretary of State: The Sudan Crisis Is Extremely Complex and We Are Working to Address It
Washington – Mashawir
U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio said that the crisis in Sudan is “extremely complex” and that the United States is heavily engaged in efforts to address it.
Speaking before the United States Senate Committee on Foreign Relations, Rubio explained that “the problem in Sudan is not a lack of willingness on the part of the United States to provide funding.”
He added, “We are prepared to move forward, and we have the necessary flexibility through what we have been able to do in the area of foreign assistance to increase the scale of support.”
Rubio noted that “the challenge lies in distribution and the ability to deliver aid to those who need it.”
He continued, “Until we are able to create the conditions that allow for effective aid delivery, this issue will remain linked to the possibility of reaching a peace agreement, which is extremely frustrating.”
