“Somoud” Alliance Meetings Begin Under Hamdok to Discuss the Future of the Political Process

Nairobi – Mashawir

Meetings of the Leadership Council and Executive Council of the Civil Democratic Alliance of Revolutionary Forces, “Somoud,” commenced on Sunday in the Kenyan capital, Nairobi, under the chairmanship of former Sudanese Prime Minister Abdalla Hamdok.

The meetings are focused on discussing a number of key documents related to the future of the political process in Sudan.

Participants are reviewing a political vision paper, a framework paper on engagement with the two parties to the conflict, and a coordination paper addressing relations with political forces and various blocs. Discussions also include a paper on engagement with international and regional initiatives, including the Quad and Quint mechanisms, as well as a humanitarian paper examining living conditions and the impact of the ongoing war.

The meetings are expected to address and resolve differences of opinion regarding the coordination paper with political forces, particularly concerning mechanisms for engaging with various political blocs and the limits of political partnerships during the next phase.

The discussions come amid calls for broadening the base of national consensus, while others advocate for establishing clear guidelines governing political coordination and alliance-building in the period ahead.
