14 Killed in RSF Drone Attack on El Obeid

North Kordofan – Mashawir

At least 14 people, including three members of the same family, were killed in the early hours of Thursday in a series of attacks targeting El Obeid, the capital of North Kordofan Region in central-western Sudan, amid escalating hostilities between the Sudanese Armed Forces and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF).

Residents of El Obeid woke to the sound of powerful explosions. According to local sources, drones reportedly attributed to the RSF struck residential neighborhoods across the city.

Over the past few days, more than four people were killed and 12 others injured in airstrikes that targeted a funeral procession and a fuel station in the city, according to a statement issued by the Sudan Doctors Network.

In the same context, the Emergency Lawyers Group, an organization that documents violations during the ongoing war since 2023, stated that the preliminary toll from drone attacks carried out by the RSF on Wednesday and Thursday indicates 23 people killed and 19 injured. The group warned that the number of casualties could rise due to several critically wounded victims.

Local sources reported that one of the suicide drones struck a family home, killing three relatives instantly, including a pregnant woman. The injured were transferred to medical facilities for treatment.

Photos circulated by activists on social media showed extensive destruction caused by the strikes to a number of residential homes.
