The city of El Obeid, the capital of North Kordofan State, is experiencing a state of cautious calm following drone strikes carried out by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), which targeted the city’s main power station.
Residents told Mashawir that electricity has remained cut off since the attack, while technical teams continue to assess the damage and carry out maintenance work in preparation for restoring the service.
Suleiman Bashir, a resident of Al-Salihin suburb, said that the attacks have placed severe economic and living pressures on residents by disrupting transportation and essential services, driving up commodity prices, and creating a climate of fear and panic among civilians.
He added that the water crisis has worsened dramatically, with thousands of residents facing acute shortages of drinking water, while some hospitals and health centers have been forced out of service.
