Mass Displacement in West Darfur Triggered by Deteriorating Security Situation

West Darfur – Mashawir

The International Organization for Migration’s (IOM) Displacement Tracking Matrix (DTM) has reported that approximately 6,005 people were displaced from the town of Kulbus and the villages of Wadi Bardi, Arawa, and Adarib in West Darfur State following a deterioration in the security situation.

According to an emergency alert issued by the DTM, the displacement took place on 29 June 2026, with the majority of affected families crossing into neighboring Chad in search of safety.

The DTM stated that the security situation in the area remains tense and highly volatile.

It added that it will continue to closely monitor developments and provide further updates on displacement and population movements across Sudan as additional information becomes available.
