Displaced Families in East Darfur Face Harsh Conditions After Camp Fire

East Darfur – Mashaweer

Displaced families in the Abu Dimiat area, part of the Khazan Jadid Administrative Unit in East Darfur State, continue to endure severe hardship following a fire that broke out in late June and completely destroyed their homes, leaving affected residents in dire humanitarian conditions.

Displaced resident Maryam Abshar told Mashaweer that the fire left the families with nothing.

> “Our homes were completely destroyed, and the affected families now lack both food and safe drinking water,” she said.

She added:

> “We no longer have anything to eat, and our neighbors are unable to help us. We pray that God will compensate us for what we have lost.”

Meanwhile, Adam Abdullah, a volunteer with the Darfur Victims Advocacy Organization, told Mashaweer that the organization has issued an urgent humanitarian appeal to local, regional, and international aid agencies.

He called for immediate intervention to provide emergency relief assistance, particularly shelter materials, food, and clean drinking water, to ease the suffering of the affected families, many of whom are now forced to spend their days in the open as the rainy season begins.
