The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) said it is working to strengthen international cooperation to safeguard Sudan’s cultural heritage and support the recovery efforts of the Sudan National Museum.
UNESCO stated:
«”We organized a visit by David Schweikert, the Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to Sudan, to the Sudan National Museum to assess the impact of the conflict on one of Sudan’s most important cultural institutions.”»
The organization added:
«”Together with Sudanese institutions, we reviewed the extensive damage sustained by the museum and the ongoing efforts to document, preserve, and restore Sudan’s cultural heritage.”»
The German Ambassador emphasized the importance of protecting Sudan’s priceless cultural property and expressed Germany’s commitment to supporting efforts aimed at preserving Sudan’s cultural heritage.
