Mass Displacement in Blue Nile Amid Food and Health Crises

Damazin – Mashaweer

Qeisan locality in Blue Nile Region witnessed a new wave of displacement over the past two days following the capture of the town by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) and the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement–North (SPLM-N), led by Joseph Tuka.

Multiple sources estimated the number of newly displaced people at more than 10,000, as they fled Qeisan for other areas in search of safety, amid fears that humanitarian needs will worsen as instability continues in the region.

Mohamed Abdelkarim, a member of the Blue Nile Emergency Response Room, told Mashaweer that “the new wave of displacement is placing additional pressure on the communities and areas receiving those who have fled, amid limited resources and basic services.”

Abdelkarim called on humanitarian organizations and relevant authorities to urgently assess the conditions of the newly displaced and provide essential assistance, particularly food, water, shelter supplies, and healthcare services.
