“Rapid Support Forces” Destroy Al-Kurmuk Hospital and Displace Thousands
Damazin – Mashaweer
Blue Nile State Health Minister Jamal Nasser Al-Sayed has revealed the extent of the destruction suffered by the health sector following attacks by the “Rapid Support Forces” (RSF) and their allied Sudan People’s Liberation Movement on the localities of Al-Kurmuk and Qeisan.
According to Al Jazeera correspondent Haitham Oweit, Al-Kurmuk’s main hospital has been completely put out of service after being destroyed.
The hospital provided healthcare services to thousands of residents in a remote area near the Ethiopian border, making its closure a major humanitarian disaster, particularly as more than 10 other health centers in the locality have also been destroyed.
The minister issued an urgent appeal to international and health organizations operating in the humanitarian sector, calling for immediate emergency assistance, particularly medicines, which are critically needed by those affected.
The health official warned of a potential deterioration in the epidemiological situation, despite a relative decline in the spread of diseases such as dengue fever and malaria.
