Activists in New Halfa Locality, Kassala State, have launched a broad community initiative aimed at promoting peaceful coexistence and strengthening the values of unity and social cohesion among different segments of society, with the participation of stakeholders from the sports, cultural, and community sectors.
The initiative carries the slogan: “I am Sudanese… No to Tribalism, Regionalism, and Racism… Reject Hate Speech,” conveying a message aimed at strengthening national identity and emphasizing the importance of embracing social and cultural diversity as a source of strength and cohesion rather than a means of division and fragmentation.
Mohamed Khalil, a community activist in New Halfa Locality, told Mashawir that “the initiative was launched in response to the need to strengthen social ties and promote a culture of coexistence among different segments of society, particularly in light of the circumstances facing the country and the tensions and divisions they have generated.”
Khalil added that “confronting hate speech, regionalism, and racism is a shared responsibility that requires concerted efforts by the community and stakeholders across various fields.”
He also stressed “the importance of harnessing sports, culture, and community work to promote messages of peace and strengthen a sense of national belonging among citizens.”
