Displaced people from Geissan locality in Sudan’s Blue Nile Region have received humanitarian assistance from official and voluntary organizations, including the distribution of 2,607 sacks of flour and 250 comprehensive food baskets, as part of efforts to respond to the growing needs of families affected by the war.
The assistance covered several displacement sites, including Madina 4, Madina 5, Madina 6, Abu Shendi, Madina 3, and Khor Al-Gana East. Displaced families benefited from assistance provided by the Humanitarian Aid Commission in Blue Nile Region and Qatar Charity, amid difficult humanitarian and living conditions.
Saber Hassan, a volunteer activist in Blue Nile, told Mashawir that “food assistance represents important support for displaced families facing significant difficulties in meeting their basic needs.”
He noted that “the scale of needs exceeds the assistance currently available, amid continued displacement and the declining ability of families to secure food.”
Hassan called on humanitarian organizations and supporting agencies to continue and expand their interventions to reach more displaced families, while also addressing water, health, and shelter needs, which he described as urgent priorities at displacement sites.
For his part, displaced person Al-Khair Abdelrahim welcomed the arrival of the assistance at the displacement sites, saying that “the aid has eased some of the pressures facing displaced families, particularly amid the rising cost of living and the difficulty of obtaining food on a regular basis.”
Speaking to Mashawir, Abdelrahim added that “displaced families still need continued assistance,” explaining that “their needs are not limited to flour and food, but also include medicines, drinking water, and shelter supplies.”
He called on humanitarian agencies to continue supporting displaced people and to improve their living conditions.
