The Hamidiya Women’s Emergency Response Room has completed the distribution of a “Women’s Dignity Kits” project to women and girls in the Hamidiya and Khamsa Daqa’iq displacement camps in Zalingei, Central Darfur State, as part of a direct response to health and protection needs arising from displacement.
The intervention provided essential hygiene and personal-care supplies for women and girls, helping to reduce health risks, enhance privacy and protection, and preserve their dignity amid the difficult humanitarian and living conditions faced by displaced people in the camps.
Community activist at Hamidiya Camp, Saddam Alam El-Din, told Mashawir that “the distribution of the Women’s Dignity Kits represents an important response to the needs of women and girls,” highlighting the importance of local initiatives in directly reaching those most in need inside the camps.
He added that “women’s emergency response rooms play a vital role in providing rapid and community-based responses, particularly on issues related to health, protection, and the specific needs of women and girls.”
He affirmed that “the Hamidiya Women’s Emergency Response Room continues its humanitarian efforts,” calling for expanded support and humanitarian interventions to address the growing needs of women, girls, and other displaced people in the Zalingei camps.
