The Emergency Response Room at Al-Hasahisa Displacement Camp in Zalingei, Central Darfur, has continued providing humanitarian services to displaced people and those affected by the war, with support from the State Coordination Council of Emergency Response Rooms. The efforts are part of the response to growing needs and seek to strengthen solidarity and volunteer action within the camp.
Ahmed Saboon, a member of the Emergency Response Room at Al-Hasahisa Camp, told Mashawir that “the room is intensifying its field efforts to support families and the most vulnerable groups, amid the difficult living and economic conditions facing residents as a result of the consequences of the war.”
Saboon explained that “the interventions include providing healthy and nutritious meals for children, helping them continue their education and reducing school dropout, in addition to providing urgent relief assistance to families who have lost their sources of income because of the war.”
He noted that “the room also pays particular attention to children who have lost parental care by providing psychosocial support, food, and basic necessities, contributing to their protection and reducing the risks of homelessness and neglect.”
Meanwhile, Central Darfur volunteer activist Abdel Majid Al-Nour praised the role played by the management of Al-Hasahisa Camp and the Education Council of the displaced schools complex in supporting the educational process inside the camp.
Al-Nour told Mashawir that “the partnership between the camp administration, the Education Council, and volunteers has contributed to keeping schools operating and fulfilling their role despite the difficult circumstances and challenges facing displaced people.”
He stressed “the importance of continuing to support education, as it is one of the basic needs of children in displacement areas.”
