The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) has warned of escalating violence, worsening displacement, and increasing food insecurity in Sudan as fighting continues across several states.
In a new update, OCHA reported that fighting in North and South Kordofan, Blue Nile, and North Darfur continued to drive thousands of civilians from their homes over the past week, while the city of El Obeid came under drone attacks on the 20th and 21st of this month.
The World Food Programme (WFP) reported that the cost of the local food basket had increased by 13 percent compared with the previous month, indicating the widening impact of rising prices on markets and the growing hardship faced by families in conflict-affected areas.
