A delegation of Sudanese civil forces, headed by former Prime Minister Dr. Abdalla Hamdok, discussed developments in the political, humanitarian, and military situation in Sudan with Rosemary DiCarlo, UN Under-Secretary-General for Political and Peacebuilding Affairs, on the sidelines of the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York.
The delegation briefed DiCarlo on the latest developments in Sudan amid the worsening humanitarian crisis and expanding food needs, alongside escalating military operations and the widening scope of clashes in several parts of the country.
The delegation welcomed developments at the current UN General Assembly meetings, particularly the joint meeting of the Quad and Quintet, as well as the growing international attention to the humanitarian crisis in Sudan.
For her part, DiCarlo affirmed that her office would continue its efforts to support the peace process in Sudan and provide available technical and expert assistance, with the aim of achieving lasting peace and stability in the country.
