Civil Forces Delegation Discusses Sudan’s Humanitarian Situation with International Organizations

Washington – Mashawir

The Sudanese Civil Forces delegation, headed by Dr. Abdalla Hamdok, met today, Wednesday, with a group of representatives of international organizations operating in Sudan to discuss the humanitarian situation.

The delegation briefed the participants on the meetings it held on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly meetings in New York and with the U.S. administration in Washington. It also provided an overview of the catastrophic humanitarian conditions, which are expected to become even more complex due to drought and the failure of the agricultural season.

The delegation called for urgent measures to be taken to address the widening food gap, warning that the situation could lead to an expansion of the looming risk of famine.

Representatives of the international organizations highlighted the challenges facing humanitarian operations in Sudan, including funding shortages, access constraints, and the protection of humanitarian workers.

The representatives called on the delegation to raise these issues with the various parties they are scheduled to meet, particularly concerns over arbitrary registration procedures and fees reportedly demanded and imposed on organizations by the authorities under the army commander.
