Accusations Against RSF of Looting Oil Fields in South Kordofan

Reports – Mashawir

Local sources have accused the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) of dismantling major oil fields in South Kordofan State, a move expected to have serious repercussions for the future of Sudan’s oil sector.

According to the sources, RSF forces dismantled storage tanks at the Neem oil field and transported them by trucks to the Suq Al-Ni’am area, from where they were loaded onto other trucks headed toward Sudan’s border with South Sudan.

The field, discovered in 2006, is located in Oil Block 4 and initially produced about 24,000 barrels of crude oil per day, later increasing to around 40,000 barrels.

Most of Sudan’s oil-producing states are under RSF control, including Oil Block 6, which comprises 23 oil fields.

Activists from South Kordofan have called on the international community and human rights organizations to intervene urgently, pressure for an end to the systematic looting and destruction, and classify these violations as war crimes.
