Washington Urges Sudan Once Again to Cease Use of Chemical Weapons

The United States has renewed its call on the Sudanese government to immediately halt any use of chemical weapons and fully comply with its obligations under the Chemical Weapons Convention, to which Sudan is a party.

This renewed call comes after U.S. sanctions on Khartoum took effect in June.

In late May 2025, the U.S. State Department accused the Sudanese army of using chemical weapons during its war against the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) in April 2024.

Sudan has strongly denied these allegations, yet Washington proceeded to impose sanctions on the country.
