The Humanitarian Aid Commissioner in North Darfur State, Abbas Yousif Adam, stated that more than 845,000 people in the besieged city of El-Fasher are facing catastrophic conditions, while only four international humanitarian organizations remain in the city—down from 25 organizations that had been providing aid before the war.
Adam noted that El-Fasher previously hosted around 1.5 million residents, but the majority fled due to the armed conflict and the 18-month-long siege imposed by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF).
Meanwhile, a severe medicine shortage has cast an even darker shadow over the suffering of El-Fasher’s population. Alongside hunger and cholera outbreaks, the city now faces a total absence of essential drugs, with rising illness and injury cases overwhelming the few available medical staff, who are unable to provide treatment.
