Thousands of Families Displaced from South Kordofan Amid Escalating Fighting

Mashaweer – Report

Ongoing military operations in the Kordofan region for several months have triggered large waves of displacement from the areas of Kazqeel and Al-Hammadi toward El-Obeid and other towns in South Kordofan, amid a severe deterioration in humanitarian conditions due to the continued fighting and clashes in the region.

In February, the Sudanese army managed to lift the siege on El-Obeid following a military operation carried out by the “Great Hunter” unit, which advanced from White Nile State, south of North Kordofan.

The growing incidents of looting, robbery, and abuses have also forced hundreds of families to flee from villages across Kordofan toward White Nile State.

The city of El-Obeid, the capital of North Kordofan, is now witnessing a daily influx of displaced people escaping the horrors of armed conflict in search of safety and survival.
