Field Campaigns to Detain Offenders in Markets and Outlying Neighborhoods of Khartoum

Mashaweer – Report

Authorities in Khartoum State have tightened their security grip, reinforcing surveillance and control over all entry and exit points to the capital.

Widespread field campaigns have been launched to arrest violators in markets and peripheral neighborhoods. The authorities have also established special checkpoints to relocate foreign residents living legally outside the city limits.

The State Security Committee, chaired by Governor Ahmed Osman Hamza, issued new directives aimed at asserting state authority, strengthening stability, controlling illegal foreign presence, and continuing the removal of informal settlements. Permanent monitoring posts are also being set up to ensure that such settlements do not reappear.

Despite the liberation of the capital, Khartoum residents continue to complain of a sharp rise in thefts and robberies, which are occurring at an increasingly rapid rate.
