The European Union’s representative, Wolfram Vetter, has pledged to work toward achieving a permanent ceasefire in Sudan and to support humanitarian and development projects in the areas of food security, education, health, capacity building, and addressing the impacts of climate change.
The EU had earlier announced the return of its mission to Sudan from Cairo, Egypt, committing to efforts aimed at ending the war and building peace, and appointed Ambassador Vetter to lead the mission.
In a press statement, Vetter said that the EU has tasked him with working from Cairo during this difficult period of war and ongoing humanitarian crisis in Sudan.
He reaffirmed Europe’s steadfast commitment to the Sudanese people and to ensuring they are not forgotten during these challenging times.
