Britain allocates funds to hold those responsible for civilian suffering in Sudan accountable

Reports – Mashawir

German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul described the situation in Sudan on Saturday as “catastrophic,” while Britain announced plans to allocate funds aimed at holding accountable those responsible for the suffering of civilians in Sudan, amid reports of atrocities committed in El Fasher following the Rapid Support Forces’ (RSF) takeover of the city.

Wadephul stated, “Sudan is in a completely catastrophic situation — it is the world’s largest humanitarian crisis.” He added that the RSF had publicly pledged to protect civilians and will be held accountable for its actions.

His remarks came during the Manama Dialogue in Bahrain, where he was joined by his Jordanian counterpart Ayman Safadi and British Foreign Secretary Yvette Cooper, both of whom also condemned the reported atrocities in Sudan.

British Foreign Secretary Yvette Cooper affirmed on Saturday that she is leading intensive diplomatic efforts to ensure accountability for those responsible for civilian suffering in Sudan, announcing an additional £5 million in funding — bringing the UK’s total assistance for Sudan this year to £120 million.
