Follow-ups - Mashaweer

The number of displaced persons in Sudan’s Kordofan states has risen to 88,316 people within approximately two months, following military operations between the Sudanese Army and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), according to an announcement by the International Organization for Migration (IOM).

In a statement, the organization reported that it recorded approximately 88,316 individuals displaced from the Kordofan region across 69 areas between October 25, 2025, and January 2026, due to insecurity.

The IOM noted that the majority of the displaced headed to the Sheikan and Ar Rahad districts in North Kordofan and White Nile states (all of which are under the control of the Sudan Armed Forces).

The organization added that the majority of individuals were displaced from: North Kordofan, 62%. South Kordofan, 37% and West Kordofan, Less than 1%

In contrast, the UN-affiliated organization previously mentioned that more than 3 million displaced Sudanese have returned to their homes, despite the continuation of heavy fighting in some parts of the country.

Since October 2025, the three states of the Kordofan region (North, West, and South) have witnessed fierce clashes between the Army and the RSF, the latter of which took control of all centers in the Darfur region (West) bordering the Kordofan region at that time.
