The Commander of the Sudan Armed Forces (SAF) Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, stated today (Friday) that the state does not reject peace or a truce, but a truce must not become an opportunity for the enemy to re-empower itself.
Al-Burhan was speaking while addressing a crowd in the village of Tayba Sheikh Abdelbaqi in Al-Jazirah State, the seat of the Qadiriyya Arakiyya Sufi order in the central part of the country.
Al-Burhan added, “Anyone who lays down their arms and chooses the path of peace, we will welcome them,” adding that those inciting against the country and the army will be held accountable.
He also pointed to the honorable positions of the Sufi orders and their alignment with the army, noting that when the war broke out, most citizens sought refuge with the Sufi communities, viewing them as places of reassurance and safety.
