The Sudanese Ministry of Health announced today (Tuesday) the completion of arrangements to launch a campaign to combat dengue fever in Khartoum and Northern states, amid the continued spread of the disease.
The Emergency Operations Center at the Ministry of Health revealed in a statement that the dengue fever campaign has been finalized with support from the federal government, while efforts in Northern State are being bolstered by community initiatives.
Following a meeting at the Ministry of Health headquarters in the capital, Khartoum, the Center stated that dengue fever cases are persisting in Khartoum and River Nile states. Infections have also been reported in Northern State, while infection rates in other states have decreased.
The Center announced the activation of emergency rooms in Northern State and the dispatch of a federal response team from various departments following the emergence of dengue cases. Additionally, medical supplies and diagnostic consumables have been sent to the region.
The Center further explained that Gezira State continues to record cases of Hepatitis E, with control activities ongoing. Measles cases were recorded in White Nile and North Darfur states, while cases of meningitis were monitored in Gezira and Khartoum.
