The Libyan Red Crescent revealed today, Monday, that the death toll from a boat capsizing in the Mediterranean Sea off the coast of Tobruk in eastern Libya has risen to five people.
The head of the Libyan Red Crescent Society’s Derna branch, Hamza Al-Ferjani, said that Red Crescent teams recovered five bodies of migrants who died after their boat overturned in the area between Al-Tamimi and Umm al-Rizm, 110 kilometers from Tobruk.
Al-Ferjani explained that the number of missing persons has reached eight, while search operations are still ongoing.
He noted that the teams managed to rescue 20 migrants, including 12 Sudanese, four Somalis, and four Egyptians.
