The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) has condemned the killing of at least 8 students, four of whom were under the age of eighteen, and a health worker, following drone attacks targeting a secondary school and a primary healthcare center in the village of Shikiri in White Nile State.
The organization’s representative in Sudan, Sheldon Yett, said: This attack represents a flagrant violation of children’s right to safety and protection.
He added: It is a painful reminder of the brutal impact of this conflict on children.
He continued: Schools must always remain safe places where children can learn, grow, and hope, and they must never be a target for attacks.
