United Nations Calls for Immediate Action to Save the Situation in El Fasher

The United Nations Humanitarian Coordinator in Sudan, Clementine Nkweta-Salami, said that “the humanitarian situation in El Fasher and surrounding areas is rapidly deteriorating.”

She added, “Without immediate, coordinated action supported by adequate resources, the crisis in the capital of North Darfur will worsen.”

She continued, “Humanitarian actors must be granted safe and unimpeded access, as lives are at stake and every moment counts.”

Salami urged all parties to respect their obligations under international humanitarian law and to allow safe and unhindered access.
