Residents have reported that the city of El Fasher is experiencing a severe shortage and an unprecedented rise in the prices of available food items, alongside a lack of essential medical supplies in hospitals and health centers.
The Coordination Committee of the “Resistance Committees in El Fasher” stated that families in the city have been suffering for months from a suffocating crisis in basic food supplies, amid rapidly deteriorating living conditions.
The committee explained that the crisis has extended to include medicine, water, and even the most basic services, pointing out that continuous shelling is preventing residents from venturing out in search of food and is disrupting the arrival of the few aid deliveries still trying to break through the siege.
The committee described the situation in El Fasher as a “comprehensive humanitarian catastrophe,” warning that most neighborhood kitchens—which citizens depend on—have ceased operations due to a lack of necessary support. It called for urgent intervention from organizations and government bodies to provide food and medicine to support these neighborhood kitchens.
