UN organizations have reported that the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) are obstructing the delivery of goods and humanitarian aid to the city of El Fasher, the capital of North Darfur State.
Due to a shortage of essential items such as onions and the soaring prices of other commodities, many residents of the city have been forced to eat animal feed known as “Umbaaz.”
The World Food Programme (WFP) expressed shock and concern over the bombing and destruction of its facilities in El Fasher.
In a statement, the WFP said, “Humanitarian workers, their assets, operations, and supplies should never be a target. This must stop now.”
The U.S. State Department’s Bureau of African Affairs condemned the RSF’s shelling of a WFP facility in Darfur. It called for an end to the indiscriminate bombing of civilian areas, the protection of civilians, and the unrestricted delivery of humanitarian aid.
