Emergency Room at “Abu Shouk” Camp Appeals to International Organizations for Medical and Food Aid
Follow-ups – Mashawir

The Emergency Room of Abu Shouk Camp in North Darfur State said in a statement published on Facebook that the food situation inside the camp has reached a catastrophic level.
It pointed out that “displaced persons have been forced to eat animal fodder to stave off hunger after essential food supplies ran out,” leading to a significant rise in malnutrition cases, particularly among children, women, and the elderly.
The statement added, “Despite the efforts of local emergency committees, the scale of the tragedy exceeds available resources,” noting that the most recent food basket distribution was conducted through limited volunteer and charitable efforts, covering only a small fraction of actual needs in the camp, which continues to receive new arrivals daily.
The statement urged international and regional organizations, as well as charitable entities inside and outside Sudan, to intervene immediately by providing urgent medical and food assistance, and by establishing emergency nutrition centers to curb the worsening health crisis.
Abu Shouk Camp is one of the largest camps in North Darfur and has become an early warning hotspot for what other areas may soon face in terms of similar humanitarian collapse if displacement continues and aid declines.
