FAO: Sudan Among Top Five Global Hunger Hotspots

Follow-ups – Mashawir

The United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) has declared Sudan one of the top five hunger hotspots in the world, alongside Palestine, South Sudan, Haiti, and Mali—countries where hunger and the risk of death are expected to rise in the coming months.

The organization’s latest report calls for urgent humanitarian action and strengthened international efforts in Sudan to de-escalate conflicts, halt displacement, and intensify comprehensive humanitarian responses.

Meanwhile, the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) in Sudan reported that more than 12,000 civilians were displaced from their homes in Darfur and Kordofan within just four days due to escalating violence in the two regions.
