Darfur IDP Coordination: Cholera Outbreak Spreading Alarmingly, Nearing Out of Control

The General Coordination for Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in Darfur has revealed that the cholera outbreak is spreading at an alarming rate and is on the verge of spiraling out of control.

It reported that the cumulative number of cases in the region has exceeded 7,268, while the death toll has risen to 309.

According to the latest update, the disease continues its terrifying spread into several new areas of Darfur, particularly in overcrowded displacement camps located in Tawila, Jebel Marra, Zalingei, Nyala, and Khazan Jadeed in Shearia locality, where infections are rising at unprecedented rates.

Volunteers expressed disappointment and concern over the protracted humanitarian crisis, citing the international community’s neglect of the worsening catastrophe.
