Aerial Spraying Campaign Launched to Combat Disease Vectors in Khartoum State

Mashawir – Reports

On Tuesday, an aerial spraying campaign was launched in Khartoum State to combat disease vectors and curb the spread of mosquitoes and other disease-carrying insects.

Hamza Sami, Director of the Vector Control Department, confirmed that the campaign is being implemented in cooperation with the Defense Industries System. It targets densely populated areas, swamps, and locations where rainwater has accumulated.

He urged residents to cooperate with field teams to ensure the campaign is carried out effectively.

Residents have complained about a surge in fevers across neighborhoods in Khartoum, alongside difficulties in accessing hospitals to treat patients.

Medical sources attributed the spread of fevers to the proliferation of disease-carrying mosquitoes, citing the severe deterioration of environmental health conditions in most areas of the capital.

The Sudanese Doctors’ Network announced the recording of 461 cases of dengue fever in Khartoum State as of mid-August, including four deaths.

The Federal Emergency Center under the Ministry of Health reported over 5,000 cumulative cases of dengue fever nationwide, including 325 cases in Khartoum State.
