26 Killed in Armed Attack and Shelling in South Kordofan

South Kordofan – Mashaweer

At least 21 people, including women and children, were killed in an attack by an armed movement aligned with the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) in Sudan’s South Kordofan State, while five people, including a child, were killed in artillery shelling in the area, according to the Sudan Doctors Network on Friday, amid U.S. pressure to reach a humanitarian truce.

In a statement, the network said an attack carried out by what it described as the “Sudan People’s Liberation Movement–North,” aligned with the RSF, targeted the areas of Debi and Luwairi, which are inhabited by the Atoro tribe, south and west of Kauda.

The network confirmed that, in addition to the 21 deaths, several people were injured and a large number of civilians were displaced from the area.

The network condemned the attack and accused the SPLM–North forces of targeting civilians on an ethnic basis and forcibly displacing large numbers of people from their homes.

It described the incident as a flagrant violation of international humanitarian law and the rules governing the protection of civilians.
