Hunger and Cholera Threaten Lives of El Fasher Residents

Mashawir – Reports

With hunger and the food crisis worsening in El Fasher, which has been under siege by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) for more than a year and a half, the cholera epidemic continues to spread. The number of deaths has risen to 429, while total infections since the outbreak began have climbed to 10,854 cases across Darfur, according to the latest update from the General Coordination of IDPs in Darfur.

The Sudan Doctors’ Network announced that the humanitarian situation in El Fasher is deteriorating dangerously, noting that children, women, and the elderly fleeing the siege are being left in the open until they die.

In its statement, the network stressed that residents of El Fasher are “dying twice each day — once from RSF bullets on the city’s outskirts, and once more from hunger and shelling inside it — a full-fledged crime committed before the eyes of the world and its silence.”
