Rising Cholera Cases and Deaths in Darfur

The General Coordination of Displaced Persons in Darfur announced a new increase in the cumulative number of cholera cases, reaching 13,215 infections, while deaths jumped to 557, as the outbreak continues with 102 new cases and three new deaths recorded yesterday (Thursday).

Mohamed Al-Tijani, Director of the General Administration of Emergency, Epidemic Control, and Preventive Medicine, announced the launch of joint cooperation between the Ministry of Health in Khartoum and the General Administration of Civil Defense in combating disease vectors.

He also noted a significant rise in the recovery rate among patients infected with dengue fever.

According to the International Displacement Monitoring Matrix, 1,640 people were displaced from the city of El Fasher over the past two days due to escalating insecurity, moving to other locations within the same locality.
