Egyptian Moves to Discuss Urgent Mechanism for Implementing Quartet Plan in Sudan

Follow-ups – Mashawir

Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty said in an interview with Al Hadath channel that “the war in Sudan breaks hearts,” stressing that Cairo will not stand idly by in the face of what he described as “the destruction, killings, and displacement that have torn the country apart.”

Abdelatty pointed out that “Egypt, as one of the Quartet members, is strongly pushing for the activation of the plan announced on September 19, which calls for an immediate ceasefire for three months, followed by a nine-month political process.”

He further noted that “the Quartet is currently discussing an urgent and binding mechanism to implement the plan on the ground,” stressing that Egypt is pressing forcefully to save Sudan from the flames of war and to put an end to the bloodshed as soon as possible.
