Deterioration of Humanitarian Conditions for Displaced Persons in North Darfur

Follow-ups - Mashaweer

The Emergency Room of Al-Tina Locality and displaced persons’ camps has issued an urgent appeal to local and international organizations following a horrific deterioration in humanitarian conditions within the locality and its neighboring villages in North Darfur.

A statement by the Emergency Room revealed the deaths of approximately 103 civilians, “mostly women, children, and herders, and the injury of 88 others, as a result of continuous attacks launched by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) on localities near the Sudanese-Chadian border.”

The Emergency Room stated that eight areas—Qadir, Sasa, Andrew, Jereigira, Hajju, Mastoura, and Khazan Basu, are facing a true humanitarian catastrophe. These areas have been subjected to widespread burning and looting of property and livestock, forcing nearly 18,000 people to flee toward the Chadian border under extremely critical humanitarian conditions, sleeping in the open and lacking the basic necessities of life.

The statement further explained that continuous drone attacks and shelling, which have persisted for nearly a month without pause, have targeted public and vital institutions. This has almost completely disabled service facilities in the region and left civilians living in a constant state of terror and fear.
