Saudi Arabia Supports Reconstruction of Sudan’s Health Sector

Khartoum - Mashaweer

The King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center inaugurated several vital projects in the health sector of Khartoum State today, Saturday.

The new projects included the launch of a therapeutic oxygen production plant at Omdurman Teaching Hospital, with a capacity of 20 cubic meters per hour. This is one of five plants established as part of a broader project package designed to enhance the supply of life-saving medical oxygen across several major hospitals in Sudan.

This project is considered a qualitative addition to the hospital, contributing to the more efficient operation of intensive care and emergency departments, especially given the ongoing challenges facing the health sector.

Two significant electrical grants were also inaugurated: Saudi Maternity Hospital (Omdurman): A 300 KVA power generator, implemented by the Al-Kafaat Organization for Studies and Human Development as a national partner. And Al-Buluk Specialized Children’s Hospital (Karari, Omdurman): A 300 KVA power generator for one of the region’s most prominent pediatric care facilities.

These projects are part of a larger series of initiatives launched by KSrelief. Past and current phases include: equipping hospitals with modern medical devices, establishing additional oxygen plants and providing power generators to various health and service facilities.

The ultimate goal is to restore essential services and support the recovery of the health sector in Khartoum State and other affected provinces.

Health Ministry officials in Khartoum State praised the prominent role played by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, KSrelief, and the Saudi Ambassador, Ali bin Hassan Jaafar. They emphasized that this generous and continuous support represents a “real shift” in strengthening health capacities and providing life-saving services to citizens.
