UN spokesperson Stephane Dujarric expressed grave concern over the escalating violence in the states of Kordofan and Blue Nile, where intense fighting continues to harm civilians and obstruct the delivery of much-needed life-saving humanitarian aid.
He stated that local sources indicate an increase in drone attacks in El Obeid, North Kordofan, since last Friday. The Sudan Doctors Network also reported damage to a medical facility and 12 people injured, including 5 medical staff members.
Dujarric explained that continued clashes in South Kordofan, particularly in and around the city of Dilling, along with fighting along main supply routes, are hindering commercial transport and humanitarian operations.
The World Health Organization stated in a post on the X platform that it verified the British Health Center in El Obeid was subjected to shelling that resulted in 12 injuries, including five medical workers, and called for an end to attacks on healthcare facilities.
