Widespread Condemnation of Hospital Bombings in Sudan

Khartoum – Mashawir

Reactions condemning the airstrike that targeted, on Thursday, the hospital in the city of Al-Jabalain in White Nile State, south-central Sudan, continued to emerge. The attack resulted in the death of seven people and left several others injured. Meanwhile, the Rapid Support Forces, accused of carrying out the strike, denied any involvement.

The Sudanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs strongly condemned what it described as a “treacherous terrorist attack,” stating that the Rapid Support Forces carried it out using a drone, targeting the only hospital in Al-Jabalain, which provides services to the local population.

This attack comes about a week after accusations were directed at the Sudanese army for launching a drone strike targeting the hospital in the city of Al-Daein, the capital of East Darfur State, which resulted in the deaths of 64 people and injuries to dozens of civilians.

Political and civil forces considered the targeting of Al-Jabalain Hospital, and the resulting deaths and injuries among patients and medical staff, as a “heinous crime” added to the record of violations committed by the warring parties against civilians and service facilities.

In the same context, the Civil Democratic Alliance of Revolutionary Forces “Somoud,” which opposes the war, expressed its strong condemnation of the attack, holding the Rapid Support Forces responsible.
