The Civil Democratic Alliance of the Forces of the Revolution “Somoud” welcomed the convening of the Sudan Conference in Berlin on April 15, describing it as an opportunity to mobilize international support for peace efforts and humanitarian assistance in Sudan.
The conference will feature three main events: a ministerial meeting to coordinate peace efforts among countries involved in the Sudanese issue, a humanitarian meeting to address the ongoing humanitarian crisis, and a civil-political meeting bringing together Sudanese stakeholders.
In this context, a delegation from the Civil Democratic Alliance “Somoud” will participate in the conference as part of the Sudanese civil-political meeting, which includes a broad spectrum of political, civil, and professional groups, as well as public figures, youth, and women. The aim is to reach consensus on a Sudanese call to end the war and support the launch of a civilian-led political process that leads to a just and comprehensive peace.
The Somoud delegation has already arrived in Addis Ababa to attend the preparatory meeting ahead of the Berlin conference, which is intended to pave the way for agreement on its outcomes.
In its statement, the alliance expressed its full appreciation for all efforts committed to supporting peace and democratic transition in Sudan, as well as the countries and organizations calling for the Berlin Conference, the Quintet mechanism that facilitated the civil-political meeting, and all international actors participating in the conference.
The statement added: “We hope that the conference will produce outcomes that advance peace efforts in Sudan. We also affirm our readiness to engage positively with Sudanese civil forces and figures participating in the civil-political meeting in a way that contributes to its success in strengthening efforts to end the war in our country as soon as possible.”
