Ad-Damazin: Worsening humanitarian crisis for displaced Sudanese

Ad-Damazin – Mashawir

The city of Ad-Damazin, the capital of the Blue Nile Region in southern Sudan, is facing an escalating humanitarian crisis, as tens of thousands of displaced people endure harsh living conditions amid severe shortages of basic necessities.

The situation has worsened following the arrival of more than 7,000 people fleeing various areas across the region due to ongoing military operations and attacks reportedly carried out by the Rapid Support Forces and the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement-North, according to sources in the Sudanese army.

Activists and local organizations are calling for urgent intervention to provide food and shelter, as the number of people fleeing conflict zones to the regional center continues to rise.

Meanwhile, the Sudan Doctors Network has urged national and international organizations to take immediate action to assist more than 10,000 displaced people who moved from Qaisan to Ar-Rusayris, including women, children, and the elderly. They are facing extremely dire humanitarian conditions, with acute shortages of food and medicine and a lack of even the most basic means of survival.

Earlier, the Emergency Room in Qaisan expressed deep concern over the waves of displacement affecting the town, stating that the current security and humanitarian conditions have forced large numbers of residents to leave their homes in search of safety and stability.
