Volunteer Initiatives Support Displaced and Vulnerable Children in Central Darfur

Central Darfur – Mashaweer

Volunteers in Golo locality in Central Darfur State continue their humanitarian efforts by operating a community kitchen that provides daily meals to orphaned children and children who have lost their caregivers as a result of the war, amid worsening humanitarian conditions and growing needs across the region.

The project is being implemented through a partnership between local volunteers and the S&G Organization. It aims to support approximately 300 children between the ages of four and fifteen by providing two meals a day for one month. The initiative focuses on children who have lost their parents, particularly following the recent events in El Fasher.

Volunteer activist Adam Hassan told Mashaweer that the initiative was launched in response to the difficult humanitarian conditions facing hundreds of families.

He explained that many children are no longer able to access even basic food requirements after losing family members or the sources of income that previously supported their households.

Hassan added that the continuation of the community kitchen depends on receiving urgent support from donors and humanitarian partners. He noted that volunteers are making every effort to ensure that meals reach the children most in need.

Meanwhile, Al-Fateh Al-Amin, a member of the Darfur Victims Advocacy Organization, told Mashaweer that humanitarian needs in the area far exceed the resources currently available.

He called on local, regional, and international organizations to provide urgent assistance, including food supplies and financial support, to sustain the kitchen’s operations and expand its services.

Al-Amin stressed that children affected by the war are among the most vulnerable groups in society and that ensuring their nutritional needs has become an urgent humanitarian priority that cannot be delayed.
