Residents of 20 Villages Displaced in Darfur Amid Harsh Humanitarian Conditions

Al-Tina – Mashaweer

Volunteers from the Emergency Response Rooms in the border town of Al-Tina told Mashaweer that fighting has forced residents of more than 20 villages surrounding the town of Kulbus to flee to neighboring areas.

Hamad Gassim Allah said that hundreds of people had crossed into Chad, particularly following the escalation of fighting and the occurrence of widespread abuses.

He called for an urgent humanitarian intervention to assist refugees along the border and to provide emergency shelter and food supplies, especially as large numbers of displaced people have arrived in the border town of Al-Tina following clashes in the Abu Qamra area of Karnoi locality in North Darfur, as well as in Kulbus and its surrounding areas in West Darfur.

Meanwhile, Dr. Faisal Hassan, a volunteer physician working in displacement gathering sites, told Mashaweer that those fleeing the violence are facing severe humanitarian hardships. He said that people suffering from chronic illnesses have been left without essential medication and have very limited access to healthcare.

He added that the situation of pregnant women is particularly critical due to the lack of adequate food and the absence of essential vitamins, placing the lives of dozens of women at serious risk.

Dr. Hassan appealed to international humanitarian organizations to deploy mobile medical clinics to the area in order to save the lives of thousands of displaced people.
